What is the Coach Bob Pittard Scholarship?
The Coach Bob Pittard Scholarship Fund invests in
Apex, North Carolina high school athletes who are
pursuing a full-time undergraduate education leading to
a Baccalaureate Degree. This investment is made
possible through a Trust Agreement between former
Apex High School teacher and coach, Robert Ray
Pittard, and WakeEd Partnership.
WakeEd's Coach Bob Pittard Scholarship is an award
open to students from Apex and Green Hope High
School.
How much is the award for the Pittard Scholarship?
Each year, the Coach Bob Pittard Scholarship has awarded $12,500 (annually) to up to 14
student athletes from Apex and Green Hope High School.*

*All scholarship recipients will be invited to re-apply three times.
Student Eligibility
To be considered for The Coach Bob Pittard Scholarship, applicants must meet the
following criteria:
Participated/lettered in at least one full season of a varsity sport;
Demonstrated achievement in academics, leadership, and community service;
Must be a United States citizen or legal resident;
Intend to work full-time toward a Baccalaureate Degree at an accredited
institution following high school graduation in 2024;
Must have at least a 2.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).

1 Short Answer Question
Once applications close, the selection committee will review applications. Selected
students will be invited to interview. The judging panel will interview, and the recipients
will be notified and awarded.

Letters of Recommendation
Two distinct letters, written by individuals who know you in a variety of ways.

Letters should not exceed ONE page.
Letters of Recommendation
Each applicant will need TWO Letters of Recommendation.
HS teacher, guidance counselor, school administrator, or supervisor
HS coach, athletic director, or community leader
Letters should include a formal letterhead. All letters will be uploaded online and
should be PDFs or DOC files.
Applicants should notify and request Letters of Recommendation as early as
possible. Applications are not completed until BOTH Letters of Recommendation
are submitted.

Essay
Responses to the essay prompt can be submitted as a written or video response.

Maximum Length of 5 minutes
It is highly encouraged that applicants should have another person (teacher,
counselor, or another adult) proofread or review their essay responses.
Please ensure that all files are available for viewing or your application will be
disqualified.
