Movie Event Planning Checklist
Pick a movie
Choose a favourite “Queen of Katwe” or “Black Panther” are great options, or there are
many to choose from on Netflix or other online formats.
Location
Do you have space at home, or is there a larger space you can access so more people can
attend (hall, school, church)? Will the movie be screened inside or outside? Try to aim for a
place that has a good ratio of seating space to screen size. Do you have enough seats,
cushions or rugs, or could you ask your guests to bring their own?
Date and time
Pick a date and consider what time will your event be held? Do you need to add coverings to
windows etc to block distracting sunlight during the movie?
Equipment
Do you have a big screen or projector, or can you borrow one? Make sure it’s compatible
with your computer’s outputs and that you will have adequate sound. Test it out in advance.
Guest list
With your space in mind prepare your guest list. If you have plenty of room, why not ask
your friends to bring a friend.
Invitations
Simply add your event details to the stationery provided and start inviting. Alternatively,
create your own.
Set up an event online
Set up and event on Facebook or other social media. You can upload the Maranatha Movie
image, a movie poster, or your welcoming face! Clearly state the location, date, time, rsvp
and what to bring. Make it clear that this is a fundraising event and the ticket price involved
will go to Maranatha Health.
Snacks and drinks
Popcorn is an easy, tasty and inexpensive option. You might like to print out some
Maranatha Movie Night labels to paste on popcorn paper bags or cartons. Fruit platters are
another great option - refreshing, filling and quiet to eat. Add your own favourite snacks.
Alternatively, ask people to bring food or a drink to share.
Event schedule
Consider when you can do a brief presentation on Maranatha Health and what the money
raised will help to achieve. We’ve provided a video link to share with your guests, some
stories, or share your own story and thoughts. A movie interlude is a great way to make this
happen, as well as providing time for refreshments.

Information about Maranatha Health
Maranatha Health's dream is that every child in our region of Uganda has access to high quality
compassionate health care, and that every individual is empowered to make healthy choices so
their household can thrive. We are working with the local community in Uganda to make this dream
a reality, through innovative grass roots community programs and our current 30-bed paediatric
hospital.
To achieve our dream we are building a purpose built MH facility, to replace our less-than-ideal
current rental facility. This will ensure even more children and mothers can access our life-saving
services, allow us to scale our community programs, and serve as a centre for excellence and
training in the region. Excitingly, we have purchased the land on which to build! Now, we urgently
need the funds to continue our work and construct our facility.
This work in spreading health and hope isn’t easy. It’s slow, and complicated, and there are many
barriers that get in the way of this happening fast. Thanks to the incredible work of our dedicated
team in Uganda however, we are on our way to seeing this dream unfold. Recently *Grace, a little
girl, came to our clinic. When she arrived she was extremely weak and malnourished, just skin and
bones with hollow eyes that would stare off into the distance. Her parents did the best they could,
but they were extremely poor and had other significant issues, which meant they were begging from
neighbours for their food to survive. Grace had never been to school. But Grace was a fighter little
did we know that within this withdrawn child was an incredibly resilient spirit full of energy and joy.
After a few months of care at our clinic, feeding her nutritious meals and treating her complex health
issues, and with our community staff working intensively with Grace’s family and their neighbours,
the situation has been transformed. Grace is now a bubbling confident child, eager to tell her
Maranatha Health family how well she is doing at school! Rather than us being a blessing to her,
Grace and her energy has inspired us further towards our dream!
To impact many more children like Grace we need people like you, to join with us to see this
Ugandan region thriving and healthy.
With gratitude,
The Maranatha Health Team
