Schedules
The Capitol Corridor operates daily trips between
Sacramento and Oakland/San Francisco, as well
as San Jose. Train schedules are updated 2-3
times per year; for the most current information,
pick up a printed timetable at a Capitol Corridor
station or visit www.capitolcorridor.org. At our
website, you may also use our online Trip Planner
and check real-time train status.
Tickets
Capitol Corridor trains generally do not require
advance purchase, so it’s easy to just buy a ticket
and go. Holiday travel, certain promotional offers and
discount tickets may require advance purchase.
How to Buy Tickets
There are many ways to
purchase Capitol Corridor train
tickets. Please note that all
passengers must have a valid
photo ID to purchase tickets
and board Capitol Corridor
trains and motorcoach
services.
Quik-Trak Ticket Machines
All types of tickets can be
purchased at many stations from Quik-Trak
ticket vending machines with a debit or major
credit card. You can book, purchase, and print
your tickets all at once. You can also book and
purchase your tickets in advance online, then
print them out on the Quik-Trak machine when
you arrive at the station (you will need your
confirmation number and/or the credit card
used to make the purchase).
Ticket Counters at Staffed Stations
All types of tickets can be purchased from
agents at staffed stations. Hours of operation
vary by station. Please visit our website at
www.capitolcorridor.org for details.
Tickets Online
Most types of tickets can be purchased in
advance online, with a major credit card. Visit
www.capitolcorridor.org to purchase your tickets.
You will receive a confirmation number that you
can use to pick up your tickets from an agent at a
staffed station or from a Quik-Trak ticket vending
machine. If you purchase your tickets at least 14
days in advance, they can be mailed to you at no
additional charge. For tickets purchased within 14
days of travel, an additional fee may apply to have
your tickets mailed to you.
Multi-Ride Tickets by Mail
If you are traveling between two unstaffed stations
that do not have Quik-Trak machines, there is an
easy way for you to buy multi-ride tickets by mail.
Call 1-877-9-RIDECC (1-877-974-3322) or visit
www.capitolcorridor.org for details.
Tickets On Board the Train
Only one-way tickets can be purchased from a
conductor on board Capitol Corridor trains. If you
board at an unstaffed station, there is no surcharge
to purchase your ticket on the train. Capitol Corridor
is currently working to install Quik-Trak ticket
machines at all stations. If you board at a staffed
station, you’ll pay a surcharge for each ticket
purchased on board.
Conductors accept cash, major credit cards, or
debit cards with a Visa or Mastercard logo for the
purchase of one-way tickets on board the train.
In order to ride the motorcoach portion of the
trip, you must have a ticket that includes the
designated motorcoach segment of the route,
as well as a segment of rail travel. If you are
beginning your trip on a motorcoach without a
ticket in hand, see Page 15 for travel information.

Disabled Access
All Capitol Corridor trains are ADA-accessible.

Passenger Information Display Signs
Electronic signage at most stations provide
you with real-time status of incoming trains and
inform you of any delays or other important
announcements.
Real-time train status can also be checked on the
Capitol Corridor website at www.capitolcorridor.org
before arriving at the station.
Passenger Code of Conduct
The Capitol Corridor recommends the following
procedures to ensure that all passengers enjoy a
safe and comfortable ride. Thank you for your
cooperation.
At the Station
Arrive early and avoid rushing to the train.
•Avoid running. Always walk.
•Watch for moving vehicles on the station platform
and stay behind the yellow line.
•Keep children close to you at all times.
Boarding and Exiting
•Watch your step when boarding and exiting the train.
Never board or exit a moving train.
Do not block the wheelchair ramp.
•Gather your belongings and prepare to exit as the
train approaches your destination.
If you need assistance, proceed to the lower level
prior to arrival at the station stop.
Safety & Security
Security measures are for the benefit of our riders.
We ask for your cooperation.
Passenger Identification
All Capitol Corridor passengers must present valid
identification, such as a current driver’s license, passport
or other photo ID, when purchasing tickets and must
carry this ID with them on board the train. Motorcoach
passengers must present a valid photo ID before
boarding.
Trust Your Instincts
Please help us keep our trains safe and secure
for everyone by being watchful and observant. Please
report any unmarked or unattended items or suspicious
activity immediately to the station agent or train crew.
Thanks for doing your part.
11
•Generally, all exit doors on the station side of the
train will open at each stop. In some cases, not all
the doors will open; listen for announcements and
instructions prior to arrival.
•Exit the train promptly once the train has stopped.
On the Train
Use handrails for balance and support.
Avoid standing in the vestibule or in between train
cars when the train is in motion.
Familiarize yourself with emergency exits and the
passenger safety card.
Keep all windows and doors closed, unless
instructed to do otherwise by a uniformed crew
member in an emergency.
Do not leave children unattended or let them run in
the aisles. Hold hands with small children while
walking through the train.
Be a Courteous Rider
Only occupy one seat per person. Please make seats
available for other passengers.
Keep shoes off the seats.
Refrain from engaging in loud and/or vulgar
conversation.
Keep portable devices such as laptops, CD or MP3
players, and electronic games on mute/silent, or
use earphones.
Dispose of trash and newspapers in the receptacles
provided.
Store baggage and personal belongings in the
overhead racks and designated storage areas,
instead of on the seat next to you.
Train Conductors
The train conductor is required to monitor all cars
on the train, and will occasionally pass through
each car. If you need to immediately locate the
train conductor, ask the food service attendant to
make a PA announcement for assistance.
12
Emergency Exits
All side doors and designated windows on
each train car are equipped with emergency exit
releases. Follow the instructions provided on
the signs or in the passenger safety cards in the
back of each seat.
Riding the Train
Choosing a Seat
Seating is first come, first serve, and limited to
one seat per person. Please be considerate of
families or groups who would like to sit together.
Baggage
Trains and motorcoaches have limited room for
carry-on baggage. Overhead racks accommodate
most personal belongings and carry-on bags that
meet airline requirements. Store larger baggage
on the racks near the stairwells.
Dangerous or illegal items, including firearms
and weapons of any kind, are prohibited on board.
Capitol Corridor and Amtrak accept no liability for
carry-on baggage. Visit www.capitolcorridor.org
for our complete policy.
13
From departure to arrival, Capitol
Corridor makes your trip convenient,
comfortable and enjoyable.
15
Bikes on Board
Bicycles are welcome aboard Capitol Corridor
trains. You can find bicycle racks on the lower
level of most train cars. If all racks are full, notify
the conductor. The conductor will identify a place
for you to safely secure your bike. Please carry a
bungee cord with you to use in securing your bike.
Animals
No animals or pets are permitted on Capitol
Corridor trains or motorcoaches, with the
exception of certified guide or service animals
accompanying passengers with disabilities.
Documentation is required.
Train Amenities
Restrooms
Each train car has a wheelchair-accessible restroom
on the lower level. An additional restroom is located
on the lower level or at the end of the upper level.
Food and Beverages
All Capitol Corridor trains offer food and beverage
service in the Café Car; look for the sign on the
outside of the train car. Breakfast, light meals and
snacks, and hot and cold beverages are available.
Electrical Outlets
Power outlets are available on board for
passengers using portable devices such as CD
players, laptop computers, electronic games, etc.
Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi)
Capitol Corridor’s Wi-Fi program offers high-
quality, onboard access to email, the Internet,
private networks, instant messaging and digital
entertainment. Visit www.capitolcorridor.org to
find out which trains are Wi-Fi enabled.
Transit Connections
Motorcoach Bus Service
The Capitol Corridor operates dedicated
motorcoach bus service that connects outlying
communities to the train system. The motorcoach
and train schedules coordinate to provide
16
connections to various communities in Northern
California and Nevada. In some cases motorcoaches
are used in lieu of train service. Motorcoach
connections are always highlighted in our
schedule to differentiate them from trains.
Motorcoach travel must be made in conjunction
with train travel.
If you are beginning your trip on the motorcoach
and do not have a ticket in hand, you must give
your photo ID to the driver. Upon arrival to your
transfer destination, the driver will escort you to
a Quik-Trak machine or station agent to purchase
a ticket for your full route, which must include a
segment of rail travel. Your photo ID will be
returned to you at this time.
All motorcoaches are equipped with roomy
reclining seats, overhead reading lights and
baggage storage space. For detailed information
on motorcoach destinations and schedules, pick
up a timetable at any station or visit our website
at www.capitolcorridor.org.
Transit Transfer Program
The Capitol Corridor partners with several transit
agencies to provide convenient and free transfers
to local transit services. While riding the train, ask
the conductor for a transit transfer that entitles
you to free connections on local transit lines. For
more information on participating transit
agencies, visit www.capitolcorridor.org.
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)
You can easily transfer to BART trains at the
Richmond Intermodal and Oakland Coliseum
Stations. Take advantage of a 20% discount on
BART tickets if you purchase them on board
Capitol Corridor trains. $10 BART tickets are
available for $8 in the Café Car, limit one per
person. For more information about BART service,
visit www.bart.gov.
