ā€¢ Follow gasoline safety rules in
Section1: "Safety" of this Manualand
in the separate Engine Owner's
Manual.
ā€¢ Neverremovethegasolinefill cap or

is runningor still hot.Allow engineto
cool at least three (3) minutes before
refueling.
ā€¢ Keep smokingmaterials, sparks or
flamesfar awayfromfuel tank andfuel

ā€¢ Store gasoline in an approvedfuel
containerandin a well-ventilatedarea.
Store it safelyoutof the reachof chil-

MOWINGTIPSANDHINTS
Toavoid injuryorpropertydamage:
ā€¢ Before mowing, thoroughly inspect
area where mower is to be used and
remove all stones, sticks, wires,
bones,nailsandotherforeignobjects.
ā€¢ Disengage mower blades before
crossinggravel drives, roads,or side-
walksto preventbladesfrom throwing
stonesorotherhazardousobjects.
MowWhen
LawnIsDry
Forbestresults,avoid cutting grass
whenit is wet. Wetgrasstends toform
clumpswhich interferewith the cutting
action. Thebesttimeto mow is in the
lateafternoonor earlyeveningwhenthe
grassis usuallydry.

Beforemowing on slopes,checktheen-
gineoil leveland makesure that the level
is attheFULLmark. Maintaininga FULL
oil levelis particularly importantwhen
operatingon slopesasoil can bedrained

Toavoidinjuryorpropertydamage:
ā€¢ Maximum safe operating angle
is 150.
ā€¢ Exceedingmaximum safe operating
angle may cause tipping or loss of
footing.
ā€¢ Donotmowwetslopes.
ā€¢ Mowacrossslopes,notupanddown.
ā€¢ Exercise extreme caution when
changingdirectiononslopes.
MulchingLeaves
ā€¢ Themowercanbe usedto mowfallen
leaves.The leafparticlesfilter down into
the lawnandprovideaddedfertilizer.
ā€¢ Theleavesmustbe dry inorder to be
mulched.
ā€¢ Usea slowerground speedif the
leavesare not mulchedintofine parti-

ā€¢ Ifyou mulch oakleaves(whichaddacid
to thesoil), addlime to the lawn inthe
springto reducetheacidityof the soil.
KeepMowerBladesSharp
Forbestmower performance,keepthe
