Predictive Services Discussion:
An upper-level low is forecast to move toward the Pacific Northwest coast during the day, with showers
returning to western Washington. Ahead of the low, near to above normal temperatures, breezy southwesterly
sustained winds of 10-20 mph and gusts 20-35 mph, and minimum relative humidity of 10-25% are expected
across the northern two-thirds of the Intermountain West. The strongest winds are likely across portions of
central Wyoming where elevated to locally critical conditions are likely. Monsoon moisture is forecast to move
into the Mojave Desert and southern Arizona Saturday bringing isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms. Farther east, southerly winds of 12-20 mph amid relative humidity of 15-25% and well above
normal temperatures are expected on the southern Plains.
In the East, the remnants of Francine will dissipate with lighter rain for the Lower Ohio Valley, while Alabama,
Georgia, and Florida will see scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms. Well above normal
temperatures and dry conditions will continue for much of the Great Lakes, central Appalachians, Mid-Atlantic,
and Northeast. However, relative humidity will continue to be moderate, and generally above 25%. However,
downslope easterly winds of 10-15 mph will develop in the Upper Ohio Valley with relative humidity as low as
20% creating locally elevated conditions.
