PRESIDENT’S SPOT
Hello members and friends –
And I thought April was a busy month! Wow! Putting on 3 one act
plays has seen our theatre even busier! Although each play is short,
each of them needs rehearsal time and space exclusive of each other
before they all come together under our new stage manager, Julia
Gobbert, who will take over from the directors and production team to
coordinate the performances.
We are now allowed to sell the full 100% capacity of the theatre’s seating! So, don’t delay folks, book now,
there are only 7 performances of these very interesting and different plays. Play dates: 11
th
, 12, 17
th
, 18
th
,
25
th
& 26
th
evening performances at 8pm, plus one matinee on Saturday 19

Book on-line or ring Patrick on 0499 954 016 (if unattended, please leave a message).
I have been busy trying to complete the history of Wanneroo Repertory Inc. which, as many of you will
know began in 1974. The first 20 years were documented and published in “Lights Up” written by Brenda
Redding, one of our founder members. I am about 2/3rds of the way through completing it to the present
day. However, although I had archived posters and programs over the years I have been involved into display
files, there are 2 files which have gone astray! We have searched high and low, but cannot find them
anywhere in the theatre and wondered if someone had perhaps borrowed them? The 2 files in question
contain the programs for 2008/2010 and 2011/2013. Also, the photo album for 2013 cannot be found
either! If anyone can shed light on their whereabouts, I’d be very grateful. (It’s OK if you’ve borrowed them
and forgotten to return them, just sneak them back – and I’ll just be happy to have them back in the theatre!)
Our ageing theatre is constantly in need of repairs and maintenance. One of the auditorium air conditioners
failed during the last production and, on inspection, we realised that neither of them is functioning as well as
we would like (they’re about 20 years old). So, we are gathering quotes with a view to replacing them.
Adding to that, the foyer bar fridge has let us down more times than I care to mention and has cost us a great
deal in servicing of late; so that too will need to be replaced.
Although we can apply for grants to assist us, our main income is derived from audience support which, over
the past year or so has been a bit thin due to COVID. But hopefully with things returning to normal, we
should be able to keep on top of the inevitable future expenses.
Support your community theatre!!
See you in the Limelight!
Shelley
