(Sonoma County, CA) A dazzling array of indoor + outdoor performances continue this summer at
Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center. August begins with the highly anticipated double bill of
two iconic vocalists Michael McDonald & Chaka Khan (Aug 4). The following week jazz luminaries Bob
James, David Sanborn, & Marcus Miller revisit the GRAMMY

award-winning album Double Vision, (Aug
8) and the popular Free Movies at the Green series continues with a double feature of The Little
Mermaid, celebrating 30 years since its release, and Disney’s new live-action Aladdin (Aug 10).
Later in the month, Country superstars Travis Tritt and The Charlie Daniels Band bring their Outlaws &
Renegades Tour with special guest Love and Theft to Weill Hall & Lawn (Aug 22). Experience Raiders of
The Lost Ark In Concert with John Williams’ epic score performed live by the Santa Rosa Symphony,
(Aug 24) and on the final day of August Sonoma County’s signature event Taste of Sonoma returns to
the Green Music Center showcasing the region’s wines, vintners, winegrowers and chefs (Aug 31).

Two of the most distinctive voices of our time with a combined fifteen Grammy® wins, Michael
McDonald and Chaka Khan come together for an unforgettable double bill.
As the new face of the Doobie Brothers in the mid 70’s, Michael McDonald penned some of their
biggest hits from “What a Fool Believes” to “Minute by Minute” with his signature soulful sound,
later going on to a successful solo career with a string of hit collaborations with Patti LaBelle, James
Ingram, and more.
Hailed as a “one-of-a-kind premier vocalist” by the great Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan began her
career with funk pioneers Rufus, dominating the airwaves with hits including “Tell Me Something
Good” and “Ain’t Nobody. Chaka’s superstar status was solidified with the 1984 R&B smash hit “I
Feel For You,” which set the stage for many more hits to come.

Together, these three virtuosos reunite for the first time since the release of Double Vision, the
1980s collaboration between James and Sanborn that dominated the airwaves, sold over one million
copies, and earned a GRAMMY© Award.

Dubbed one of “The Class of ‘89” along with other country music superstars Garth Brooks, Clint
Black, and Alan Jackson—all of whom dominated the charts in the early ‘90s, the southern rock-
influenced Travis Tritt continues to sell-out shows and stay true and relevant to country music fans
across the globe.
Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels formed the iconic Charlie Daniel’s Band in 1970,
introducing southern-rock sounds into mainstream country music. With a string of hits including
“Uneasy Rider,” “Long Haired Country Boy,” “Simple Man,” and the iconic song “The Devil Went
Down to Georgia,” Daniels helped ignite a boom in country music’s popularity, widening its audience
across the nation.
Adding support to the bill, Nashville-based duo Love and Theft are best known for their smash hit
“Angel Eyes.” With their impassioned live performances and distinctive vocal chemistry, Eric
Gunderson & Stephen Barker Liles are positioning themselves as one of country’s most captivating
musical duos.

DIRECTIONS
Located in the heart of Sonoma County’s Wine Country, the Green Music Center (GMC) is the
performing arts presenting and producing organization based at Sonoma State University in
Rohnert Park. The GMC entrance is at the intersection of Rohnert Park Expressway and
Petaluma Hill Road.
From Highway 101, take the Rohnert Park Expressway exit. Drive east 2.2 miles to the Sonoma
State University entrance on your right.
PARKING
As you enter campus from Rohnert Park Expressway, there are multiple parking lots immediately to your
right. Parking is free with your ticket to all concerts at the GMC. Lots L, M, N, and O are directly across
from the GMC entrance. Arrive early for the best parking. Overflow parking is available on the SSU
campus for patrons who arrive late.

The Green Music Center is the performing arts presenter at Sonoma State University. The mission of the
Green Music Center is to present the most compelling artists of our time, to investigate ideas, and to
provide access to diverse artistic experiences that educate, connect, and inspire Sonoma State
University and neighboring North Bay communities. Surrounded by the foothills of Sonoma County, the
Green Music Center includes the 1,400-seat Weill Hall, with a rear wall that opens to lawn seating for a
