INSTRUCTIONS FOR AN APPLICATION FOR A LICENSE

TO CARRY FIREARMS

1) The Bradford County Sheriff’s Office does not issue permits for out of state

residents (except for Chemung County, NY residents).

2) You may only apply in Bradford County if you are a Bradford County

resident.

3) You must bring the completed application and your photo ID to the

Sheriff’s Office to apply for the permit. If you are renewing, please bring

your old permit if you have it.

4) The references on your application MUST be Bradford County residents

OR you can use Law Enforcement from another state or county. Your

references cannot be related to you in anyway. This includes in-laws. (NO

EXCEPTIONS!)

5) The fee for your license to carry application is $20. We accept cash only,

no personal checks, debit or credit cards.

6) The approval process can take 45 days. When your permit is ready you will

be notified via phone call and you, or someone you know, will have to stop

back in the office to pick up your permit. Your permit is NOT going to be

mailed to you.

7) You must be 21 years old to apply.

8) The application process is the same whether you are renewing your permit

or are a new applicant.
